REPORTS
GRAPEVINE—weather has kept Charlie
from getting to some meetings to share
the Grapevine but hopes to get to those
meetings this month. The Grapevine
has two new books out: Thank You For
Sharing and Spiritual Awakenings at
$7.50 each. Need to push The Grapevine
subscriptions, and will set up meetings
with groups.
TREATMENT FACILITIES—committee will
meet Saturday (meets every third Saturday).
Kelly, Josh and Gil met with Mike at
the Pavilion on Tuesday February 10
th to discuss what they expect from
the committee in orientation meetings
and what can actually be provided.
Issues like whether no-alcoholic family
members can or should attend were talked
about. Committee also discussed the
idea of restarting a Bridge the Gap
meeting on a once per month basis.
Meeting was productive and committee
members will be talking at Saturday
meeting about how they want to proceed
with the meetings held at the Pavilion.
Point of clarification: the TFC organized
meetings in the treatment facilities
ARE NOT regular AA meetings (such as
Saturday and Sunday evenings at Prairie
Center, Wednesday at Pavilion) but
are instead informational presentation
and panel discussions about what AA
is, and isn't, and how to get hooked
up. Committee is not involved in the
regular AA meetings at the facilities.
Gil will bring up the question raised
at District about Hour House in Charleston
at the committee meeting.
PI/CPC—no report.
CORRECTIONS—no report.
EVENTS—game night was February 7 th
; 15 people were in attendance. $64.11
in expenses; $50.00 in revenues. Committee
discussed May 15 th dance and panel
discussion (with the topic to be Service,
Recovery and Unity), a picnic June
12 th in Tuscola and a July 4 th picnic.
INTERGROUP—Intergroup need financial
support from AA groups; currently is
operating in the red. New Member Packets
are available at $1.00 each.
GSR REPORTS
THREE GUYS GROUP—attendance is still
steady at 10 to 15 each week. This
is an open AA meeting; officers are
in place. Group is doing well financially.
The group is working on getting AA
information to the local police station
and to area churches.
LONELY HEARTS—rent is paid; group
is building prudent reserve. Speaker
meeting is held the third Saturday
of each month; is also providing 459s.
Second meeting of the month has been
changed to a concept meeting.
JOY OF LIVING—attendance is averaging
25 people weekly. One new member added
to core membership. Group sent a member
to see what help is wanted and/or needed
at Intergroup so that group can decide
whether or not to lend support. Group
also wants to know if District's Events
Committee is really necessary. Group
has replenished its supply of sobriety
medallions. Group has money in its
treasury and will disburse in the following
weeks. Literature is self-supporting,
and has both books and money. Representative
contacted Jim H. to tell him the group
will buy about $400.00 in soft-cover
Big Books to supply the Correction
Facilities Committee. Group selected
people to cover the services for next
month.
TUSCOLA MONDAY NIGHT GROUP—attendance
is steady at 20 to 30 people. Five
volunteer names were sent in for the
phone list. Everything is going well.
MONDAY NIGHT CELLAR DWELLERS—attendance

speaker for the second Tuesday of the
month. Prudent reserve stands at $186
for rent and needed literature.
FRIDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP—attendance
runs above 40 people; Prairie Center
inpatients in attendance. Prudent reserve
is back up. Group is no longer holding
a speaker meeting.
TUESDAY NIGHT NEWCOMERS—group remains
slightly over prudent reserve. Attendance
is stable.
ONE STEP AT A TIME—attendance has
varied between 15 and 40. Mark G. has
given three leads; he is doing a great
job. Since Paula hasn't been heard
from, the group may ask someone else.
Group is doing well financially. After
dispersing and ordering literature,
group has a $300 excess. Since it has
been found that the group has been
in existence for 20 years, the idea
of a 20 th anniversary picnic is being
discussed. Will be further discussed
under new business this month. Group
voted at last business meeting to finish
group inventory questions after our
business meetings, one question per
business meeting. Hope to have group
inventory done by next year.
OASIS GROUP—meets Tuesday and Friday
at noon at the St. Andrews Campus Lutheran
Center at Wright and Chalmers Streets.
Group has approximately ten core members.
It is still a closed meeting. Attendance
has waned somewhat since the weather
turned cold but still is fairly well
attended. The meeting is round-robin
style and also carries literature and
pamphlets. Friday midnight meeting
no longer exists.
EARLY BIRD—monthly business meeting
was held February 6 th . Group is going
through a small transition at this
time but all is going well. Group will
disburse quarterly to the four entities
as outlined in the service manual.
The Early Bird took a group inventory
to see how well it has been carrying
the message and feels it's doing well.
Group is keeping its literature stocked
and on hand. Rod Wyckoff was elected

is building prudent reserve. Speaker
meeting held on the third Saturday;
459s being provided. Second meeting
of the month has changed to a concept
meeting.

Committee.
Charlie S. reminded the group that
District 12 still needed an Alternate
DCM. Frank G. nominated Stan H., who
accepted. Nomination was accepted,
and Stan H. was unanimously voted in
as Alternate DCM.
NEW BUSINESS
Gustodio L. of Joy Of Living group
suggested more group input on District
12 events. Discussion followed. Events
chair Robert R. explained that the
committee is here to help make District
12 move visible. Events Committee will
meet at 1:00 p.m. before the next District
meeting. Charlie S. suggested anyone
with input on events meet with Robert
R. next month.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
CORRECTIONS— no report.
TREATMENT— TFC needs
support. Kelly, Angie and Gil met June
19 th ; GSRs are needed to go to their
home groups and announce that the committee
needs active membership. One meeting
per month coordinates volunteers to
lead Bridge the Gap and Orientation
meetings at Pavilion, Prairie Center
and Prairie Center at Killarney (one
month commitment). Preliminary discussion
held to include Corrections Committee
on service in District 12.
GRAPEVINE— committee
gave The Grapevine subscription out
at the District 12 picnic. Charlie
S. gave a short talk to the Early Bird
group, and is open to giving a short
talk on The Grapevine to any group
that would contact him.
INTERGROUP— Intergroup
is in need of financial support. To
this end, Larry M. has written an open
letter to all groups.
EVENTS— committee
discussed a couple months ago about
asking the district if it could purchase
some durable items such as coolers,
coffee pots, etc. Also, the committee
would like to ask the district if it
could purchase other items such as
coffee, creamer, sugar, cups, etc.
Committee discussed the idea of storing
the items in a central location (Fellowship
Hall). It also thought about having
a sign-up sheet for groups that host
events and would like to use the items.
District would have priority over other
groups. A purpose statement and short
form of the concepts to be read at
every district function was approved.
A service seminar for the Corrections
Committee is being considered. Committee
wants to ask the district if it can
put this seminar on before the October
district meeting. It wants to ask for
a budget of $100 for literature and
snacks. It thought about asking an
out-of-town speaker (Mark Morgan) to
come and speak about serving on the
Corrections Committee.
Another panel discussion and dance
for September is being considered.
The details are as follows: the panel
discussion will start at 7:00 p.m.
on September 11 th , 2004 at the Serenity
Shack in Rantoul. The topics will be
sponsorship, homegroup, and DCM. Charlie
from Tuscola will share his experience
being DCM for our district. Alternate
speakers will be available. Committee's
budget is $300 for the event; this
is an estimate of the costs.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
There is a vast amount of fun in the
AA fellowship. Some people might be
shocked at our seeming worldliness
and levity but just underneath there
lies a deadly earnestness and a full
realization that we must put first
things first and with each of us the
first thing is our alcoholic problem.
To drink is to die. Faith must work
twenty-four hours a day in and through
us or we perish. Service is a cornerstone
of the AA program. District affords
many service opportunities for you
to exercise your right of participation.
In order to set our tone for this District
Event, I ask that we bow our heads
in a few moments of silent prayer and
meditation.

month's treasurer report. Starting
balance was $2772.48; ending balance
was 2974.73. Passed unanimously.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
TFC— is at four members.
Kelly H.—chairperson. Gil T.—elected
by Bondville. Michael J.—elected by
Tuesday Night Savoy. Angie H.—volunteer
coordinator. Rodney and Chris have
dropped due to other obligations. There
will be a panel on August 22 nd .
GRAPEVINE— the Area
21 was contacted about furnishing Grapevine
material for The Soberfest; they agreed.
We will set up a display and sell the
material. Will be available for group
that would like to have a Grapevine
lead.
EVENTS— events committee
meeting was short. Discussed speakers
for our next event in Rantoul at the
Serenity Shack on September 11, 2004
at 7-12 p.m. We have the speakers lined
up for this event. The topics of the
panel discussion are sponsorship, homegroup
and DCM. We have asked the following
speakers to share on their experience:
Cindy from the Bondville meeting (sponsorship),
Troy from Oasis meeting (homegroup),
and Bob from Cellar Dwellers meeting
(DCM). We have everything done except
for getting a DJ. We are currently
working on this. The committee will
meet a week before the September 11
th event; the time and place will be
set between now and then.
GSR REPORTS
SUNDAY LONELY HEARTS— attendance
steady at six to eight. Group is building
prudent reserve and is current on its
bills.
FRIDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP— nothing
has changed. Core membership is between
six and eight. Alan H. is the new GSR;
Art B. is the Alt. GSR. Group discussed
having Charlie come and do a lead for
the Grapevine but was voted down since
group has amends to make.
WEDNESDAY FRESH START (PAVILION)— attendance
is consistent at over twenty per week.
The meeting has been in place for some
time but has recently taken steps to
become a registered group. Group has
a treasurer and Alt. GSR. Group is
in need of mor home group members.
TUSCOLA MONDAY NIGHT— group
is going strong with 30 to 35 in attendance.
Disbursements were made last week.
All is going well.
NOON BIRD— meetings
are still going strong. Group is able
at this time to send support monies
to the GSO, District 12 and Intergroup.
These donations will hopefully come
on a quarterly basis.
ONE STEP AT A TIME— attendance
is steady between 30 and 40. Prairie
Center clients have been attending.
Mike D. has been doing a great job
with his leads. He has honored his
commitment by preparing before his
lead. Group appreciated his sharing
his experience. Group has asked Bonnie
to give the next cycle of leads. She
is willing to give all 13 weeks of
leads. Group has not voted on this.
She will start on August 5, 2004. Group
is doing well financially, and disbursed
excess funds this month. Group also
picked up a couple new home group members.
Group discussed giving Intergroup $500,
but decided this wouldn't be good for
Intergroup. Members felt this would
be putting a band-aid on the problem.
The group believes that Intergroup
should start looking at why it's not
getting support from other groups and
to try to resolve this issue themselves.
Some members wonder why Intergroup
exists when District 12 could absorb
the services performed by Intergroup.
The Group believes that by giving Intergroup
money there would be violations of
the Fourth and Seventh Traditions.
The GSR has attended Area Assemblies
and heard from other DCMs who say that
their district performs the same functions
as our Intergroup. By giving money,
the group wants to know if this would
solve the problem or would this enable
Intergroup to become financially dependent
on the district in the future.
TUESDAY NIGHT NEWCOMERS— all
is well. Attendance averages 30 to
35 per week. Group is above prudent
reserve. Group will also be hosting
a picnic at Ambucs Park on East University
Ave. in Urbana, July 31 st from 5:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
THREE GUYS— all is
well.
OLD BUSINESS
The issue of disbursing to Intergroup
was again brought up. A lengthy discussion
followed. Frank G. finally made a motion
to disburse to Intergroup with the
recommendation that a representative
from Intergroup visit the unrepresented
groups in the area to find out why
they are unrepresented at Intergroup.
Motion was seconded and unanimously
defeated.
NEW BUSINESS
Allen H. said that, for the Conference
in Canada, passports aren't needed
except for those flying. Those who
drive need a valid driver's license,
Social Security card and a non-resident
identification (yellow card).
Meeting was adjourned at 3:20 p.m.

Meeting was opened at 2:00 p.m. by DCM Mark G. with the Serenity Prayer and
the reading of the Twelve Traditions.
Motion made and seconded to accept last month’s minutes. Passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s report presented by Robert R. Balance is $1784.91. Accepted
unanimously.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Grapevine--sold around $100 in Grapevine material for Area 21 and got several
Grapevine subscriptions at Convention State and Regional. We were able to make
the Grapevine a focus to all who attended the weekend.
GSR REPORTS
Tuscola Monday Night--meeting going great; 25-30 in attendance. Speaker on
the fourth Monday of each month (open). Will make disbursements again next
month.
Tuesday Night Newcomers--all is well with the group. We are above prudent reserve
and will make disbursements after we make a literature purchase. Attendance
is steady at 25-30; one new core group member, bringing group’s core
to a total of seven. Group’s format remains the same.
Early Bird--group continues to do well, attracting a steady stream of newcomers
to the meeting through the week with the weekend attendance having a mix of
old members and newcomers with a smattering of visitors. We continue to feel
we do a good job carrying the message but also know we can do better. Some
members were disappointed in having to pay the registration fee to be of service
at the recent conference/convention. We welcome any and all visitors. We meet
Sunday-Saturday, 7:45 to 8:45.
F.L.A.M.E.S.--group doing well, seven home group members. Attendance down a
little. Campfire meetings going well, good meetings but not as well attended
as last year. Format remains the same, closed meeting-discussion-smoking. We
have a person holding the literature position now.
One Step At A Time--our attendance fluctuates between 20 and 50 every week.
I think it is because of the warm weather. The attendance will be more stable
when school starts. We have lost two home group members in the last two months;
they both moved. We sent off for two subscriptions to the Grapevine to be sent
to the county jails. We voted on ordering twenty paperback Big Books for the
correctional facility committee. We also voted on increasing our literature
inventory instead of dispersing our money. Voted to split the leads up by having
two different people giving the leads. The way it will work is the we are going
to have the first person give the leads on a tradition and the first five steps,
and the second person give the leads on the Step Six through Twelve. Next Thursday
will be on Step Three. The first person giving the leads is Jim from Champaign,
and the second is Chris H. from Rantoul. At our last business meeting, we had
some controversy regarding allowing non-alcoholics to share at our step meeting.
Before we vote on the issue, we decided to do a group inventory. We are going
to use the questions in the pamphlet, “The AA Group” pages 35-36.
A Better Way--situation with no one taking responsibility to open up getting
worse; would like to see if it could be taken off meeting list. Will contact
Intergroup. Bringing up issue of contributing to the collection basket; several
ideas have been suggested for possible fundraisers, such as a dinner or outing.
Looking for site to perform various activities. Stressing self-support; trying
to get more people to donate. Dicussing in open meetings, if no other subject
is brought up, gratitude for AA, group unity and maintaining longevity of group.
Thinking of dropping Sunday Meeting; see how reserve is next month (depending
on support of Sunday).
Tuesday Nite Savoy--meeting going along nicely; 25-30 regularly attend. Ruth
D. is new GSR; Laura L unable to continue to attend meeting. Two weeks ago
had our quarterly business meeting; no disbursements made as had no extra money
after paying rent.
Joy of Living--disbursements to District 12 , Area 21 and GSO are pending;
have approved reserve. Will buy Twelve and Twelve and Big Books approved by
correction to be donated directly to Corrections Committee at District 12.
Literature: have books and committee is self-supporting. NEW BUSINESS: we are
in the process of creating a chip distribution system to encourage newcomers
(attraction). We will have our own display for AA pamphlets and AA literature
during the length of our meeting. We will buy a cabinet (locker-type) to keep
our belongings (candles, literature, chips, etc.). Attendance is good, 35 and
above. We have six core group members. Services (chair, coffee, greeter) covered
for September.
OLD BUSINESS
No old business.
NEW BUSINESS
Speaker meeting and dance being planned for November. Will probably be held
at Urbana Civic Center with a professional DJ employed.
Area 21 Assembly hosted by District 11 September 7, 2003. Rooms available
at Hawthorne Suites, 2370 Mt. Zion Road, Decatur. Assembly to be held at Longcreek

this month. Disbursements will be agreed upon and established following that.

Friday Night (Charleston)--8:00 p.m., non-smoking. Attendance generally 30+.
Still does not have a GSR, but announcements will be made asking for help.
Early Bird--group continues to do well, attracting a steady stream of newcomers
to the meeting through the week with the weekend attendance having a mix of
old members and newcomers with a smattering of visitors. We continue to feel
we do a good job carrying the message but also know we can do better. We recently
purchased a subscription to the Grapevine for the shut-ins at the county jail.
We welcome any and all visitors. We meet Sunday-Saturday, 7:45 to 8:45 a.m.
One Step At A Time--our attendance has been stable with the number attending
between 30 and 50 every week. We have gain three more home group members, two
of which are female. I am happy we have more women in the home group. We have
a new treasurer, so when that situation gets worked out we will decide to disperse
our excess funds. Chris H. from Rantoul is now giving the leads at our meeting.
We are really enjoying his sharing. We already have two people lined up for
the next cycle; they are Melissa and Ron. Our group inventory is going really
well. One thing we learned from it is that we were not paying enough attention
to the newcomers. We have decided to buy those newcomer envelopes to give out.
Overall, we are doing well.
Cellar Dwellers--30-35 in attendance; group is doing well.
OLD BUSINESS
Dance--all well. To be at Urbana Civic Center November 14, 2003; speaker is

couples--$10.00 donation. Robert R. asked for ideas for a service statement
for District 12.
NEW BUSINESS
Area Assembly
At our last district meeting in August 2003, our GSR numbers were down. We
did take into consideration that people were on vacation. Our district committees
are also struggling a bit, and we hope to have a treatment center committee
workshop soon.
Our district is sponsoring a speaker/dance November 14 at the Urbana Civic
Center. Our speaker will be our area delegate, Richard G. We will be looking
forward to hearing Richard share his story.
This will be my last area assembly, as I have turned the position of DCM of
District 12 over to my alternate, Chris N. As many of you know this is my second
term, and when I accepted the DCM position again I strongly emphasized the
need for rotation. I feel Chris is ready and willing to serve as our District
12 DCM, and our district needs a change. I thank all of you for putting up
with me. It has been a true honor to serve my district and this area.
Thank You
God Bless
Mark Gendreau--DCM
